All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
However, it should be noted that the prescribed method of calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice and should not be used for any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparisons with other practices.
The average pay for GPs working in Bridgemary Medical Centre in 2016/17 was £87,274 calculated before tax and national insurance. This is for 5 doctors who worked in the practice for 6 or more months, 2 worked full time and 3 worked part time.
A full time GP often works 60 hours a week, this therefore equates to an average hourly rate of £27.97 for our GPs in 2016/17.
